John Warner

2021

SCOUTING REPORT

John Warner is a leader on and off the field. High baseball IQ with above average instincts. Solid with his glove and quick footwork provides his that ability to use his quickness turning tough plays into simple plays.. Smart base runner that can bat lead-off or second in the order. Contact hitter with flashes of gap to gap power. - David Elder

John is a 2021 middle infielder who showed very good baseball instincts in his evaluation. His hands and feet work very well together defensively, and he took very good angles to the ball and used his quick transfer to make accurate throws from several arm slots on the run. His first step lateral movement is good for his age and size, and can improve with more reps at high speed. He showed enough arm strength and spin to play on the left side of the infield and could transition quickly to 2B.

Offensively, he can improve on his bat path and overall strength. He showed a solid line drive approach to all fields and was very controlled. He has power potential to tap as he works to stay behind the ball and uses his lower body to generate stability and explosiveness. He profiles as a solid #2 hole hitter with plenty of upside. - Nick Crocker

My Three Greatest Strengths

I believe a college coach should recruit me because I feel I bring several important off the field intangibles beyond just my on-field abilities. First and foremost, I always strive to be a great teammate, regardless of how I performed on the field that day. I believe it is the responsibility of everyone on the team to be there for each other, and for me, this means being a great presence in the dugout and leading by example. I always maintain a positive outlook despite the outcome of the game, and I feel this a crucial mindset to have. I am a very coachable player, and am always willing to make whatever adjustments necessary to help the team. As a middle infielder, it is very important to be aware of my responsibilities on the field, and I do a good job of making sure I always know where to be and what to do. I always strive to play the game the right way with passion and a strong competitive nature, and my love for the game of baseball enables me to do this and be successful.

Why a College Coach Should Recruit Me

I am looking for a program that will allow me to be a contributor and a key part of the team as well as where I can obtain a good education.

Preferred Type of College Program

I am a great and positive teammate, I understand responsibilities of my position and possess a high baseball IQ, and I am hardworking and am able to maintain a high GPA while playing both high school and travel baseball.
