SCOUTING REPORT
Coach Turco, Head Baseball Coach Pope High School
Nick Jones is a left handed hitting outfield / 1st baseman that has gap power and elite bat to ball contact skills. Nick rarely strikes out and has an advanced hitting plan which allows him to be selectively aggressive while maintaining a high OBP through his willingness to take a walk. Nick has average speed but pairs his physical ability with heads up baserunning decision making, which makes him a valuable weapon on the bases. Nick has an accurate throwing arm reliably hitting the cutoff man on throws from the outfield and solid range on batted balls!
643 DP Athletics Baseball Academy
Nick is a two-sport athlete who also enjoys playing football. He is a polite young man and is very coachable. He comes to practice willing to learn and is a great listener. On the mound, he is a reliable arm who can go deep in a ballgame. He throws with consistent arm action and has great arm side run to his fastball; he has a terrific breaking ball and can throw it in any count for a strike. He pounds the strike zone and doesn’t walk a lot of batters. In the outfield, he makes excellent reads on the ball and takes very efficient routes. He also has an above average instincts and plays an exceptional first base. At the plate, Nick competes every at bat and hits very good with two strikes. He is a respected leader on the team and leads by example. He is a quiet leader and a great teammate.
Jamaal Hawkins, 643 DP Athletics Head Coach
Nicholas is a very good teammate as well as someone who likes to be coached. He has a very strong work ethic and will do whatever it takes to help the team. Nicholas is a middle of the order left handed stick that can play corner outfield and first base. He’s not the most talkative player, but always plays with a motor. Nicholas will definitely be able to help a program win baseball games.

My Three Greatest Strengths
My name is Nick Jones, OF/1B/LHP, class of 2022. You would not consider me to be a huge personality on the field or the standout player on the team. You would consider me to be very dedicated, hardworking, and consistent with my performance. My strong fundamentals of the game come from my 9 years at 643 DP Athletics and 3 years playing for Pope High School. My teammates can depend on me to give maximum effort on the field, to be cool-headed and incredibly supportive in the dugout. My coaches like the fact that I give just as much effort in practice as I do in games. I try to be a role model for my teammates, classmates and two younger brothers.
Why a College Coach Should Recruit Me
I am open minded and want to compete for the coach that believes that I will be a good fit for their team.
Preferred Type of College Program
Hardworking - Always early and willing to work as much as it takes to succeed in sports and academics.
Team leader - not only on the field but also off the field. Striving to make smart decisions and to be a role model for teammates, classmates and siblings.
Loyal - invest in every program and school that I play for. Been with the same organization since 9u and continue to earn my way onto every team each year.
